A plume, or hackle as its sometimes called, is a clipped feather collection that is attached to the military headdress. It is worn by the British Army and in the commonwealth by the infantry regiments. The colour of the hackle or plume will vary from regiment to regiment. The hackle originates from the Scots as a 'heckle', which was a feather bonnet worn by highland regiments. View the full range below.
