This traditional Ostrich feather plume is a distinctive adornment worn by the The Rifles Band & Bugles in the British Army.
Placed on various types of headgear, the plume serves as both a decorative element and a symbol of the wearer's regiment and rank.
The plume features a aluminium 4.7mm square cross section bar with length of 310mm, with the length of the feathers from the black at the bottom finishing with red at the top being approximately 31.5cm. This plume also features a black enamel finished ornament with a bulbous top and three flames, in the form of a grenade which is to cover binding at base of plume.
